Can you please help me in using this plugin using the selector directly. like $(selector).pluginname.method()??

I am new to plugin development and I was wondering what aspect(s) of this boilerplate do not adhere to jQuery’s plugin/authoring standards? Are there disadvantages/pitfalls to using this boilerplate vs. the one jQuery has provided? I like this plugin because it is very easy to follow and implement. I tried making a simple plugin using the jQuery boilerplate version and ran into a lot of scope issues. Thanks, Dave
